** Final Fantasy XVI Thread **

8 and 9 had the same turn base combat as I recall, they just did not have the material system maybe? Been so long that I forgot. I need to replay 8 and 9 at some point. I know for a fact I only play FF 9 only on release and never since. I just remember the card game it had a bit and the main character a little. No memory of the story or side characters whatsoever. Where as FF 7 was very memorable and since played it maybe 5 times.

8 had the awful level system and the draw mechanic which was absolutely awful. Plus the GF boost which ruined my fingers trying to max it out on all but Eden. 9 was amazing though.

Most of the people who complain were either fans of the first or fourth installment, and many of them ended their unwavering devotion around the ages of 7 or 8. From game number one through game number six, every setting was quite identical.

I mean, they're not even remotely identical lol - play three and four side by side and they're set in very, very different places. The only thing was there wasn't as much customisation on graphics back then.

The complaints I hear these days FF is not turn based anymore. Which is fine but you still have plenty of turn based RPG's made by SE such as Bravely Default.

Apparently the exclusive period is only 6 months, so we have a chance that we may get it December next year. Though no guarantee, maybe just for xbox and epic. Epic means no money from me until on Steam :D

I'll take a fresh new story set in the FF universe over Link trying to beat Ganon for the 15th time. correction 12th time.

To be fair though The Zelda games are generally always good, whereas final fantasy has had quite a few lemons.

That said I hated BOTW, but I dislike more FF's. Then again not really good comparisons considering one has been a turn based menu select game up until recently.
I think 10 was my favourite battle system as it wasn't so slow, but I generally prefer that kind of combat to say floaty action based ones like what XVI looks to be.

Mind you, I'd take any final fantasy game over a Zelda game that can't even run at 30 FPS lol.

Interesting short interview from MrHappy with YoshiP which answered some interesting dev questions with some gameplay footage. Also the really cute dog plushy he had is going to be sold. :)

Edit:
Forgot to link his First Impressions vid.
