**UPDATE**

Got an answer phone message earlier from the sergeant at my AFCO "Hi, could you call me back, have further news regarding your application". I hate that because you think "now is the point where my day either turns bad or great"... and the verdict is... dum dum dummmm... I'm in! :D :D :D

Ecstatic to say the least! Life is going to get somewhat more interesting.

Woop congrats matey, fancy going on msn later and telling me what the interview is like.

Im going to ring them on monday and ask when my interview is because i havent had a letter through yet!

That'll be the Official Secrets Act then. Also, you can offer a preferred location to be be based, but obviously there are no guarantees you will end up where you want to be. ;)

Yes I asked them about that and I was suprised to hear only 20-30% are recruited from within! Doh! Well I'm going to aim for the ultimate - Warrant Officer, one day, mark my word :D

Thanks. I'll be an Intelligence Analyst. What I like is the fact I can more or less choose (although they get the final say) what I do. For example I can choose to specialise in Imagery Analysis or Comunnications. I'm particulary interested in imagery which entails studying map's, aerial photography, infra-red and satelite images. The data that I study will be sensitive though so once I join I shall have to sign a disclaimer that I don't tell anyone obvioulsy. I can also state where I'd prefer to be based... Cyprus it is then :p

based on that lack of information gathering you want to be an intelligence analyst? god help us.... :p

congrats btw. :)

Yes, very embarrassing I admit. :o I'll have to work on my method's of data gathering... i.e. not rely on the damned internet so much! hehe

I was up at 11:00 today and straight down to the gym i will have you know :D

Ah yes, the gym :( I kind of gave that a short break (oops! ...6 months!) as I figured I had a hell of a lot of partying to do before I finally wound up in the air force. I'd best haul my ass back down there and reclaim my fitness... *cries*.

Thankyou all for your kind words of support :)

get back there now :D

I was told the EASIEST thing you will do on training is the 1.5miler

It nearly killed me when i did it to pass my test lol!

Just to echo what the others have said, if you guys need any info or advice on selection/interviews/raf life etc then I'm happy to help out - I went on IOT in Feb 2002 and am now working at Shawbury as a Flt Lt.

Yep, the 1.5miler is pretty much the benchmark but on basic training you'll do loads of phys to imporve your time. I started with a 9mins 15 at selection and finished IOT bang on 8 mins.

Ah airtraffic control eh? That was my initial interest in the force and my second choice during application. I've mailed you with my MSN if you would kindly add me :)

11.00 hehehe :)
I recall being woken in our billet every morning by 0600 running 3 miles to the beach, being forced to take a swim (fully submerged or you all had to go back in lol), running back to the camp for shower and breakfast and then starting the day. Ahh the joys of Towyn in Wales and the warm seas ......

Still 'tis the RAF you're going into, life of Riley it is :)

I had 4 years in Gibraltar spent mostly on Western Beach which was Officers and families only iirc. What a life :)
