Should be ordering this soon after the 22nd Price drops or when the G0 stepping happens.

Either that RAM or some Crucial Ballistix 800mhz/1066mhz, haven't made up my mind fully yet.

Basically i'm just after a Gaming PC which will last a good 4-5 years before having to do any (major) upgrading. Any thoughts/Comments. They're all welcome! :p

[Apologies about 1600x1200 res xD]

Before anyone else gets in there the 3 questions everyone is just dieing to know.
- Will you overclock the system?
- What is the PC used for?
- Will you run XP/Vista?

Btw - AFAIK the Noctua cooler doesn't fit on that motherboard. The PSU is overkill; you won't be needing 720W for that system. You could get some highly overclockable RAM and clock it uber high.

Now thats service - 2 minute reply at 2:46 :D

1. Well seeing as this will be my first PC build, maybe a little OC'ing, to get my moneys worth shall we say.

2. Gaming. Css, BF2, Crysis, Age of Conan, LOTRO, GRAW2 Etc. Pretty much all the Multi core optimised games when they're released

3. I'll be running XP, although thinking about upgrading to Vista in the future

And about the cooler, I've seen on the Noctua website compatibility sheet, that it fits ;)

And about the cooler, I've heard from (|-|exus.net) forums, that a member has the P5K Deluxe, with the Noctua fitted with 2x120mm. So should be good.

I'm not certain about the Asus - I would swap the cooler to the Tuniq Tower (which does exactly the same temps) which I know for a fact does fit onto that motherboard.

As I said before the 720W is overkill. I would get a 520W Corsair or even the 620W to leave options open for the future!

You don't need that case fan either IMO - won't make much difference that case is an uber cooler - louder than most but the best cooling wise.

RAM - When I build my new spec sometime end of 2007 I will probobly be geting the G. Skill HZ PC6400 because its superb RAM at stock and it will hit 1100MHz overclocked with ease - without the explosive record of the Ballistix.

Post your respec for the checking - rest of spec is fine other than that.

Ok how about this:

Seeing as the Tuniq comes with a fan, is it worth replacing that with an Amber, or Scythe fan?. And whats your opinion on a fan controller? Such as the Scythe Karma-Meter

Horrible case. Once again there's no need for 720W PSU, a 520W Corsair will do you fine.

Why is it horrible?! :( And I forgot to take out the 720W Psu, replaced it with the 650W model.

Disgustingly ugly, too bold for it's own good. Still no point in spending money on a 650W PSU. Also, unless you really need the onboard wireless, you could try the Gigabyte P35 boards. Only recommending this though as I've heard nothing of your current board, but know the Gigabytes overclock well.

It does, got both the Noctua and P5K Deluxe in my (relatively) new build, although it will only fit in one way (so the fan directs air out the back of the case and not up into the PSU) due to the heat pipes on the board.

Thats exactly how you want it. :)
