Hi all,

yet another final spec check ... lol

going to blow £450 on a new rig which i will be using primarily for running vmware server for testing plus some 3d / photoshop etc. I don't game on the pc (xbox360 for me) so the gpu isn't a priority.

Not looking to OC the rig too much (3.6 if it reaches that).

I already have an additional 500gb sata drive plus dvd burner from my old rig and will run it with a 22" flatscreen.

I've come up with this spec...

  • Asus ATI Radeon EAH3450/HTP/256M Vcool Silent 256MB DDR2 TV-Out/DVI (
  • Antec Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case
  • Western Digital Caviar Blue 320GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM
  • Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
  • OCZ StealthXStream 600w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply
  • Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)
  • OcUK 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5 800MHz DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
  • Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - OEM

total comes in at £450 on the nose.
is the psu overkill on this spec? would an samsung F1 drive give me anymore performance than the caviar blue? and is the ram good enough to push the cpu to 3.6-ish?

cheers

Looks good. There are better coolers than that one for overclocking tho, I'd get a TRUE. It depends how much of a priority overclocking is tho as as the TRUE is very expensive.

Also, another vote for the sammy
