An upgrade for my parents pc, already have a case/dvd-rw

Is everything compatible and going to work ok? Its been a while since i built a machine and don't have any spare bits

If there will be anyway to make it cheaper let me know, im still tempted to just get a 20" monitor as they currently have a 17" crt lol :)

Whats going to be the easiest way to transfer stuff from this current HDD to the new one? Such as music/documents etc?

Its worth getting vista home premium
Look at a 320gig HDD, they run faster due to denser platters
Id look at one of the earthwatts specs of the PSU, theyre more efficient
Its for your parents so theyre prob not bothered but you realise you cant game on that gfx card
Id also look at 4 gig of RAM, vista will struggle with 2
To transfer you simply want to set up the new comp with new HDD and intall vista, then once up & running attach the old HDD as a secondary and copy the files across, or keep it as secondary to keep the files on, your choice

Hi dan *waves*

Cheers 95thrifles, Yes, they won't be gaming. It's incase im back home and fancy a blast on an old game or something :p

I was reading up on vista home/premium and there really wasn't much difference that would be of any use? Whats the main difference to warrent pay for it?

I had vista on 2gb of ram and it ran ok, even when gaming so my parents should be ok with 2 if i set up proberly :)

Edit: to be honest im going to drop down to a 160hg hdd, they have a 120 at the moment (which sounds like its dying) and its barely half full

this is the new spec

Ffs the price has gone up :( lol

Ok i will take that onboard then regarding the ram/hdd, apart from that will the mobo/processor/ram/64bit vista all go ok?

I was showing you my pink car, lol

Your other option as you dont seem bothered with gfx could be to look at a micro ATX setup and just stick with onboard, dont know if youve considered
