Hello!

Am about to buy this:

pc.jpg

(Total £1,080.83 inc VAT)

But want to check it over with you guys first. Is there anything you would change? My only worry really was the motherboard, i'll be overclocking so is there a better motherboard out for that? Don't mind spending a bit more on that....

I'll be using the pc mainly for gaming, a bit of a media centre, and some light video encoding (not enough to warrant a quad core tho).

Thanks for any help:D

Looking good, only personal choice may be is change the Motherboard to the Asus P5Q-E or Pro which is the same price at the moment (this weeks speacial offer) these boards have better cooling for the NB ect or have a look at the Gigabyte range.

If your overclocking you might want to drop the cpu to the 8400 or 8500.

Hi.

It looks like a very nice spec, the only thing I'd change would be the CPU.

I'd swap the E8600 for the E8400. IMO, it isn't worth the extra. The majority of E8400 chips will hit 3.3Ghz EASILY and I've heard most hit 4Ghz. The E8400 is £62 cheaper.

The Asus P5Q is fine for overclocking.

Okay, decided to swap for the P5Q-E.

As for the chip, how much further would I be able to clock the E8600 than the 8400/8500? Don't mind saving money, solong as I don't loose performance!

Thanks for the replies:D:D

nice looking comp

may want to check the case can fit a 280gtx they are long and may be tight fit with drive bays and and cable. i don't have that case but think you may want to double check. best to give cards breathing room if u can

e8400 can be an alternative and get better case with savings, Antec are popular but I don't like them - heavy and front of case is cheap and bending plastic +> Lian Li are much nicer ;)

anyway just an opinion and early merry xmas :)

Have had a look around and it seems that with a slight bit of modification you can fit a 280gtx into the anter p182. Will probably go with that, as it's meant to be fairly silent (especially with the noctua fans), and has filters....Unless anyone cares to spec me a larger, silent, not ridiculously overthetop case?

Also, does anyone know how much further a e8600 will clock than a e8400/8500?
The main reason i'm leaning towards the e8600 is that it's definately E0 and by my reasoning should overclock higher as i'm increasing the fsb by a lower percentage than the e84/8500 to achieve the same clock. Unless the chips have a limit and the e8600 is just closer to that?

Thanks again ppl:D And Merry Christmas!!!! (and happy winter solstice the TRUE winter celebration!!!!)

A friend has the P182 and it is very quiet with the standard fans, with the Noctua fans it should be near silent.
