Final Spec Check

This will be my first PC build and im right on the verge of ordering the parts but i thought i would get the speck looked over just to make sure i havent made any nooby mistakes.

this is the speck i chose after a couple of weeks of research, ive heard a lot of good things about this mobo(dispite a few poor reviews on ocuk). realy i just need to know there arnt going to be any unforseen compatability issues, apart from that im pretty much decided. if you think i could significantly improve somthing for a small extra cost shout. Thanks in advance. :)
 
Things to consider:

Motherboard: £14 extra to get the Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3...your chosen board don't have USB3.0.

CPU cooler: If you are planning on overclocking the CPU or want the CPU cooler to be quieter than using stock cooler, then you can get a budget performance CPU cooler such as Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2.

Graphic card: Get the Asus ATI Radeon HD 5770 CuCore instead. Better cooler and extra 1 year warranty for just £2 more than PowerColour's 5770.
 
That psu all be it OCuK its horrible and you should never skimp on a psu check out OcZ or Corsair :)

also if you go for the 5770 by XFX you get lifetime warranty, im guessing if you dont OC tho :)

I definitely agree that the PSU is a key component. I'm sure OCUK wouldn't sell rubbish PSUs on their own shop with their own branding, but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone until I see an in-depth review that says they are OK/good. As you have said, Corsair or OCZ are PSU brands to go for, as are Antec and Seasonic. Even a good quality 450W PSU would do fine with that spec.

As for lifetime warranty with the XFX, are you sure? All the ones on the OCUK store seem to come with a mere 2 year warranty, while the ASUS comes with 3 years.
 
With the XFX you will get a key in your box with your gfx card which will allow you onto the site from there on it will state you will recice full lifetime warrenty on your kit :)

Are you sure? Looking at this (region:europe, product series: radeon HD), it seems that XFX only deal with resellers for warranty returns with their ATI cards, so after the 2 year period is up you can't just send it to XFX and get a free replacement.

as ive never bought an xfx myself but when i went round a mates to build his machine with his 4870 he got a little card witha code in and it said on the reverse lifetime warrenty so i thought that would be the case for all of the xfx models it may just have been a one off tho :) as said ive never gone xfx so personally i dont know.
 
Aye, that may have been the case with the 4000 series, but I don't think it applies any more, have a look at this thread.

I have OCZ ModXstream 600W and running [email protected] and HD5850@ 900/1200MHz. Very nice PSU and runs cool and very silent. Although ATX12V 4 pin and EPS12V 8pin power cables are slightly short. So you may need to get an extra cable to elongate the required power cable to connect to the socket near CPU.
