Final Specification

Thanks. The only problem with the keyboard is that it costs a lot to get posted. (It is over 2kg :p). When I told my Dad this he was amazed; but considering the build quality, and the general strength of the Model M keyboards, it is hardly surprising. I have been waiting for months to get one, and I will hopefully have one in a week's time.

Edit: What I want in terms of graphics is simply for the computer to be able to handle video, etc. (and if I was forced to, limited 3D), without stuttering. I have never really played games on the computer (since I was about 7 years old), and my recent (well over the past 2 years) problems with my ATi Radeon 9800 have meant I have no desire to start. I want graphics that can leave me with a good, and smooth experience of using the computer with dual monitors, and can handle limited 3D.

The graphics card is very, very roughly maybe double the power of a 9800pro so for anything 2D and for 3D outside of gaming it is easily sufficient.

Thanks for all the help.

It wasn't a lack of power with the ATi Radeon 9800; there is some form of problem to do with overheating (as far as I can gather), where any form of 3D causes it to crash to a black screen. I tried to fix it for a while, but now I am getting the new system, I will just leave this as it is (it is fine for normal usage), and have my current computer as some form of spare. (Most likely I will use it as my Windows machine).

Edit: What other things will I need if I am going to build this computer? Will I need thermal paste, and something to tidy the cables with? I am very new to this really, it is my first full build.

A friend has recommended this component:

Is this a good idea? It says that the component is quiet, and I would like the system to be relatively quiet. I understand that the Intel stock cooling is rather good (interestingly from the Mr Billing videos :p); would this be a well spent £17.61?

This is my current idea for the computer then:

Will this be fine considering that I am in possession (or will be in several days [if everything goes well]) of a keyboard (also one can assume my possession of a mouse)?

Bit late telling you now but I think it can be any time up to around 4pm and you should still get next day delivery but it depends how busy they are in terms of picking the parts. :)

Thanks, I'm getting it delivered a bit later anyway. (I have my final GCSE examination on Thursday, so I don't want yet another distraction prior to it :p).

Well, it's ordered.

It will be at my house (and ready to build :p) on Monday 25/06/2007.

I am looking forward to it. (I also ordered a Powerball, which will be great).

Thanks again!
