Final thoughts before RMA

used DDU and lost both #1 and #2 display ports on the GPU (no signal). Had to swap PCIE slots (moved one slot down) and used #2 port from GPU. Drivers just installing now. About to reboot

hmmm reinstalled drivers - shut down. put GPU back to PCIE slot #1 and put cable back to display port #1 on GPU. restarted and it's booted into windows. Error saying display drivers did not work, but I now have the display port working ??? I shall try and reinstall the driver again

well slap me with a wet cabbage and call me martha :D

Reinstalled again and I have the GPU running in PCIE slot #1 and I have display port #1 running at 2560x1440 @ 165hz ... what the freaking hell ????
Why .. just why .. weeks of this freaking problem and now it's working .... Was almost at the verge of a psychotic episode ..
What he heck would have caused this in the first place ??
Now I just need help getting my ram back up to 3733mhz .. new thread time I think .. thank you so much everybody .. I'll run a few tests and make sure it's all stable .. huge sigh ..

Sounds like some funky driver issues, i've had similar things happen in teh past but theyre normally down to using multiple monitors or multiple graphics cards which i use both, i have no idea how it would be caused when your only using one of each. If i have both my monitors powered on startup i only see the bios on my second monitor, its the same thing for safemode too, not sure why it does it but it seems to want to send the signal to a certain port sometimes and nowhere else, i've had to just go through all my ports one at a time in the past till i found the one the signal was been sent to, half the time it was sending it to one of the onboard ports which led me to disable the onboard nowadays.

Yeah auto update can cause problems from time to time. It's normally safer to just run DDU and install fresh when it comes to graphics drivers. I say that coming from AMD though, it was essential to use DDU with amd and its just a thing i carried onto Nvidia, maybe the Nvidia uninstall software does a better job, i dunno.
