Hi all,

Who's currently doing their Final Year Project/Dissertation?

How are you all getting on?

I'm currently at the "aaahhh, panic!" stage, where I've realised that I haven't done enough - a case of sitting down and smashing out a couple of sections to catch up.

How about yourselves?

Hey,

I had to take a study break during my final year last year so just hammered out the reminder of my final year for this feb board.

Handed in dissertation about 3 weeks ago, I think I spent the last 5 days of it crying and panicing.

Nothing beats the feeling of handing it in though.

Havent_even_started.

Got SO much other work to do, and organising a conference between us for potential employers, its just gone on the back burner which i will inevitably regret. I do know a good deal about mine already though so hoping that will help when it comes to doing it.

Edit: Should mention it's not a conventional dissertation, it's a scientific paper for a journal.

I started an HNC in January which is part of my development pathway in my career, part of which is a dissertation/project which is to be completed by October 2013.

I haz a gant chart which plans it all out for me. Not looked at it since the first 3 day block of the course back at the start of Jan.

My dissertation gant chart was the last thing to actually get done :D

My advice: any minute you get free, in between lectures etc start doing a bit of research, bookmark journals, links, make note of relevant books or take them out and do a bit of reading around the subject. The actual writing up of it is the easy bit. It is the research and what you do with the information which is the difficult bit. So even if you are planning on leaving it to the last minute as long as you have all the information stored up you will be fine. However if you leave the researching and finding information to the last minute then you'll be a bit screwed.

Going pretty well. Been sidetracked by other modules recently but basically all on target. Waiting for official feedback on my project review but I have managed to keep to my outlined time plan so far so it should be ok.

What is going to be a nightmare is the actual write-up/dissertation itself! I'm keeping quite a detailed log but it's going to be arduous writing it up properly, so that's something to try and stay on top of!

Bit late? I handed mine in months ago.... And I graduated already haha

Full time masters, it's planned as 9-5 every day for 1 year, this dissertation represents 900 hours work. We work a lot more than you lazy undergrads. I should know, I was one of you not too long ago :p
