Finally, 5830 prices dropping.

I'll keep an eye out for that. The 5830 was never a bad card. It was just too expensive.

I think it's the wrong time to upgrade within 3 months new refresh will be out ALTHO! if i get the chance to take x2 5850s i would.

The refresh is probably only to do with the premium priced cards and has nothing to do with people that are only looking to buy a card at around £150 range...

That is an interesting point, its not a refresh though, it is a "new generation", however with a much smaller jump than usual. WIth a full jump we'd see the entire range replaced, but being probably less than a 50% improvement on the high end, and the lack of real need for performance in the low end, its quite possible this "new generation" might be limited to the top end cards only, and quite possibly with the 5870-5830 still in production as it will be cheaper with higher yields due to being on the same process, and basically smaller.

But there should be a 6870/6850 on launch and eventually salvaged 6830 type parts aswell.

As for prices, the 5830 rrp was far below what it was actually selling for recently though, a drop to finding it at £160-170 is more inline with finally hitting the RRP isn't it?

Needs to be around £150 in my opinion. Too late for me anyway now I've bought a 5850 but I would have been interested in these at £150, definately.:)

Can't be volt modded YET.

I have already requested a pinout and PDF for the chip used.

The sapphire one does not support software volt modding either.
