Any other questions? (I use my AirPort Express so much!) :)
Yup

The power socket on it looks removable, is it? (ie. can you just use a 'World Travel Kit' like with the MBP power supply?)
I've already checked the power voltages and it says 100-240V AC, 50-60Hz which would make me assume it's made for use in multiple countries so the power socket would have to be removable......

Thanks EVH! Youve answered all my questions so far, its a bit annoying to think that I cant watch a movie with the sound in sync with airtunes unless im using this Airfoil app movie player.
If I have any more queries ill post here , cheers :)

Yes, "n" requires multiple antennaes and (currently) it only has 1.

That's not entirely true you can run N cards using only one antennae, but range and speed are effected.

Trouble is i have 'Time Capsule' using the 'N', but only have mac mini using 'G'.
Judging by this upgrade and many more upgrades to the present/future line of products from Apple (according to a management statement), what & when is the possibility of the mac mini getting 'N'?

You can upgrade your existing mini to N, all you need is a mac pro wireless N card, an 2nd antennae off the bay and some diy skills.

Not for the faint of heart though. Plenty of guides on the web.

can i use this to make say a network in my living room thats wired, BRIDGE over to join my separate wireless N network?

I only ask has i head this product uses MODES ( having around 4 different modes of functionality ) rather that all singing and dancing - just configure for you needs AKA a singe mode access all functions.

and can i use it to bridge my Xbox 1 XBMC to my no apple wireless G network

In some modes the RJ45 Network port is disabled.

can anyone whos got the old one lay it down straight?

:)

Not sure what you mean but I'll try to explain..

If you connect the AirPort Express to your router via CAT5/6 then you can use it as a wireless access point (like a regular Modem->Acess Point setup), however, you can ONLY choose to extend the wireless network if you use it with an AirPort Extreme.

It's not a limitation of AirPort Express, this is true for all access points; you cannot connect wirelessly to an access point that is already running wireless.

This would work;

Modem -----CABLE----> AirPort Express <- - - WIRELESS - -> Laptop/Pc/Mac

This WOULD NOT work;

Modem <- - - WIRELESS - - -> AirPort Express <- - - WIRELESS - - -> Laptop/Pc/Mac

As for connecting devices to a network, then yes, it should be able to plug a device in to the RJ45 socket and have it connect to the network like that, although I've never tried it personally.

Not sure how familiar you are with the MacBook/MacBook Pro power adapters?

Well, it's virtually identical..

Instead of having the trailing cable you have the option to slide on a plug, yes? Well the AirPort Express is the same, it's entirely removable, in fact it's just a "8" connector, so you could buy a little lead and plug it in via that (with an adapter) if you're travel one didn't slide on.

Ah cool, so just like my MacBook Pro power adapter then! (Got the world travel kit with it so have all the slide on plugs already! and could easily find a figure 8 lead)

Got mine today :D

For reference, I've tried a couple of the plugs from the World Travel Kit and they all fit fine :)

Question:
After being on 6 hours it feels quite warm, are these ok to be left on 24/7 ??

Would i be better off getting the new airport with iTunes in 'N' guise and have a ethernet cable between that and mac mini, or as you've mentioned and get a mac pro wireless N card and the 2nd antennae?

Why would you need the "n" version if you're intending on connecting them with an ethernet cable?

*buy my "g" version* ;)

I was thinking of the 'N' version because i have the 'G' version next to my mac mini (which is 'G' version) in my spare bedroom (to replace with 'N' version), my Time Capsule which is 'N' is next to my cable modem which isn't anything but a cable modem in the living room downstairs lol. :D

So i will keep my 'G' version for my printer only. ;)
