I'm opting for 2x6950 instead of one GTX 580 Phantom 3GB. - Not sure if this is wise?

I'm really looking forward to playing Skyrim / BF3 / Witcher2 etc maxed out.

I'm not sure if the motherboard is future proof enough? I would be willing to spend more if there price difference was warranted. Also looking to OC the cpu heavily so hoping the CPU cooler is enough?

many thanks,

Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3P Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
How about this motherboard?
Other than that the spec is fine! :)

GTX 580 3GB is a better option. Single GPU i favour over dual.
1250W is a lot! 800W 80% Eff 80+Gold is enough
Spend a bit more on your RAM
Water Cool your CPU (Corsair Hydro?)
i7 over i5
I think your case you'll find may be a tight

If you look on another well known site in the UK that people buy from, they have some good i7 bundles at the moment.
Or
Wait 2 weeks when bulldozer comes out. See if that warrants a price drop. Even a little goes a long way!

Is the I7 warrant the extra cost of cpu and mobo?

Also, I've heard the ATI CF driver set is up to standard these days, and the reviews of the 580 3GB don't seem all that impressive. The price is the same for both, but obviously the re-sell value of the 580 is what may swing my opinion. However, the 6950 performance on BF3 compared to the 580 seems to be the difference for me. £500 for 30fps and one card doesn't seem to sway me in any way ! Also, with the case I've chosen they have stated you can remove HDD bays easily to make the cards fit (even longer than this generation), or are you meaning MOBO space wise with 2 cards?

The reason for the high watt PSU is just for future proof reasons, I don't want to shell out for another one for at least 3 years+. I'd rather spend the cash now.

Purely from a gaming perspective, there's no justification to grab the 2600k over the 2500k. My build consists of a 2600k, but that's because I do a lot of video encoding, and game streams.
I also went the 6950 CF route over the overpriced, slower, GTX580. Usually I'd agree with grandmaster about single gpu options, but lately xFire has become more stable and thus more viable.
1250W is a lot, a single 6950 should utilise 250W Max - xFire 500W. A quality 850W is more than adequate - and will save you some money. Wishing to future proof is one thing, but PSUs degrade over time and become less efficient - you're likely to need a replacement after 4-5 years regardless of going 1250 or 850w, really not worth spending the extra now as it won't save you in the long run.
I would look at changing the heatsink for a higher quality cooler though, the 2500k is a beast overclocker, wouldn't be wise to sell yourself short with inadequate cooling.

Everything looks good. Stick with the 2500K. Could go with this board as it's PCI-E 3.0 ready but no idea if it's fully Ivy Bridge compatible.

How about dropping back to 1000w? 1000w is still enough for any 3 card setup, and I can't really imagine power consumption for graphic cards rising too much over the next three years.

That cooler should be fine for a nice overclock on the 2500K. Maybe stretch to the Titan Fenrir Evo if you can to keep temps low on higher speeds. Thermalright Silver Arrow is a good choice as well but on pre-order at the moment.

Thanks guys, I will probably change my cooling options and PSU.

However what's the difference with the £99 OCZ and this : OCZ ZX Series 850W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply one which is £120?

Also, looking at the original corsair case I think it's going to be too tight a fit with two graphics cards so looking at the 650D (as the 800 seems way, way to expensive). Is the 650D a good choice, or should I make other cuts to get the 800D? Or will the 650TM suffice for all above?

Ok just relooked and tweaked a few things... Would love to hear from someone with a similar spec, just to say yep no problems with ARMA2 / BF3 etc. :D please.

So you will be buying the case+psu separately?

As for your question, no it wont be near any fans.

Yes, I saw that I would prefer a different PSU than the one bundled. Same case, the 650TM, just the 1000W OCZ ZX series PSU instead, as I would like the modular cabling.
