Finally decided to stop defending Ebay

I quite often defend Ebay on here. Mainly because in all my years on it I've never had much trouble and on the few occasions I have, I've actually won the disputes (including twice as a seller).
I've always felt that people often bring it on themselves - not following the recommended way to deal, not sending things via a tracked service, that kind of thing.
However I'm pretty sure I'm about to lose my second case in a month as a seller and I think I've had enough. I end up out of pocket each time (my postage them them and having to pay for the return). Ebay "Resolution Centre" don't read the case, they don't look at the facts. If you're a buyer, you win - simple.

My latest:
Sold 6x Genuine toner for a brand of printer. Described them as brand new and unused, which they were. We have retired the last of the printers that use these toners, so wanted rid. I noticed that the boxes all had our company name written, so I simply used a permanent marker to go over our company name.

Buyer simply asked if they were genuine, unused and still boxed - to which I replied yes. He didn't ask me on the condition of the packaging or anything like that. I had no idea he in turn wanted to resell them, if he'd mentioned that we could have discussed things further.
He got them for around 35% of the RRP as I wanted rid.
Now he wants a full refund because there is a black marker mark on each of the boxes. I explained why and in the "open case" explained that these items were exactly as described and photographed.
I now have to wait the final 3 days before Ebay make their ruling (sorry, Ebay decide to side with the buyer).

So that's it, this on top of a Netgear router a week or so ago (Was taken off my mum's old connection, working. Was factory reset, packaged and sent to buyer).
Buyer asks me questions on how to set it up, I send him a copy of the downloadable manual. He asks me about setting up DMZ, I go into the manual and find the relevant part. He tells me he cannot get it to work and files a "this item is faulty" claim which Ebay upheld, without asking for any evidence or feedback from me.

*Sigh*
A decade ago Ebay really was the site to use.

Instead can go to the members market and have responses such as

"I have seen this item sell for 20pence at e auction therefore I will offer *insult low amount*"

Im sure I've been bad for that to be fair :0

I do get frustrated with eBay too but what else ya gonna do?

it's pretty much THE place to be able to sell all your random tat so we just have to put up with it :(

Try dealing with people on Facebook marketplace, jesus just don't.

If ever you want to see how our education system has failed or how we've somehow managed to skip thousands of people in the evolutionary cycle, go browse Facebook Marketplace. How these people manage to post stuff for sale without accidentally eating their phone / laptop / pc is beyond me. What's worse is that these people are out there. Handling your stuff. Cooking your food. Operating vehicles on your roads. They're out there, with their single brain cell rolling around in their skull waiting for them to figure out how to use it.

Someone tried to sell a used electric toothbrush on mine for more than RRP. :D
