The car may not be flashy as some of the BMWs round here, but my Daewoo comes with some mintly loud speakers around... and yesterday (Although Halfrauds did the complicated bit... uncle said they did a good job tho lol) I finally got the Active sub into my car and working...

The Car... My old SORNd Cinq behind it ^_^

HeadUnit.jpg

Sony 4000R Headunit (This is one of my mums old head-units, she had a Blaublunkt one in here when she had this car... so when she put this up for sale, she took the blauplunkt one out and shoved it into her MGTF)

SubRear.jpg

The sub itself is an FLI 1200 active sub... its only set to about half power atm as I wanna bed it in for a month or so... even at half power tho, it still kicks it out...

And in my boot with the rest of the junk I keep in there... im gonna clean it all out later (Providing this rain stops lol)

Parents have made all this happen for my 18th Birthday.. and im really happy with it all... the last peice of the puzzle is to pass my test Friday...

Brilliant Sub, i have one however have decided to take it out as it was weighing the car down too much :P

Loving the car, haha, brilliant.

Looks a nice tidy install, well done :D

Forgive me if I am wrong but tidy? From what I can see the sub isnt secured to the floor, and the wires are just coming out of a hole in the boot floor. Not even secured, or cable tied.

Yeah very tidy.

They come out the floor just behind the beack seats... the cables will be run under the back seat also.. its normally the easiest way to do it.. its not that messy.. as you wont see it from looking into the boot.. you aint ment to cable tie the power cable and signal cables togeather anyway.. how do you know its not secured to the floor? (not saying it is)

looks ok mate :) enjoy the car and best of luck with the test on friday ;)

Shoulda got captain Six to design and install a custom enclosure for it ;)

Out if interest, how much did Halfords charge you?

My whole install cost me £40, £20 of that being for the carpet.

£40 for a sub install isn't too bad if you CBA to do it yourself.

He speaks the truth.. if they have set it all up right and everything is clipped back and cables are run seperate (i bet they aint) Then £40 aint too bad... but id rarther do it all myself :)

What do you mean it's only on half power If your talking about the gain on the amp then that just matches the output voltage from the headunit to the input on the amp so that the signal doesn't clip. I f you turn that right up the amp will clip and the sub will not be happy. :) they only need to be run in for around 10hrs max 5hrs should be fine a month is abit overkill :D

West,

How much RMS power is the amp on the sub pushing out?

Six,

How do you find those JBL amps? Am guessing you've got the 4 channel version and usings 2 channels for the front speakers?

£40 is cheap. If done properly it'll take a couple of hours or more to fit an amp and sub.

MrSix: That installs great.
