EK-Laing D5 X-TOP G1/4 Rev.2

Watercool HK CPU Rev3.0 1156 LC Water Block (whats LC for ?)

EK Water Blocks EK-FC5850/5870 RAM Backplate - Black (for my Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5850 Extreme )

EK-FC5850 5850 CF - Acetal (for my Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5850 Extreme)

XSPC RX360 Radiator

Need some advice for the fittings to go for, i had a look at quick connect fittings....didnt look for long, they are expensive but i would certainly have two for the rad because i will need to take the case out of the cabinet every now and then and will have to disconnect the rad to do this, inside i can live with compression fittings as these seem to be the most popular, how easy is it to drain and refill the loop ?...what size hose should i go for, i was thinking 3/8 ?

Ill add a picture later of the case, i work nights and need to sleep now, im also unsure of what res to go for, a single 5.25 bay or something else..must be inside the case.

Another concern is the garphics card block, i beleive there are different pcb boards, not 100% sure the blocks i got for the graphics card are correct.

As for everything elsei welcome your suggestions.

Unfortunatly there is no mention of the Saphire 5850 extreme on the ek coolingConfigurator, and so I think it is unlikely but not impossible that the FC block will fit that non-reference design card (it really depends on the layout of the PCB board etc)

The Watercool HK CPU Rev3.0 1156 LC stands for low cost edition. It is an excellent block from the reviews I have read and performs almost on-par with the EK HF extreme.

Thats good for the cpu, i picked as an average. Thanks.

As Exsurgo says, that EK 5850 block is for refernce cards only. I am fairly sure your card is not reference.

Does that mean i will not be able to get a full block for this card ? when they say refernce do they mean a card thats pcb was manafactured by the chipset maker ? if you know what im getting at.

yes usually a reference card will have amd stamped above the gold connectors and the fan is usually at the rear of the card.

non reference will not have amd stamped on the pcb and the fan is usually in the middle of the card

more info here http://www.overclock.net/ati/705075-how-tell-ati-5xxx-reference-card.html

there was a guy last week who traded his non reference hd5850 for a reference one in the wanted section last week as he had a full block and it didn't fit his card

edit.
if its this card, its non reference

if you want to keep your cards, then try to return the full blocks and buy these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-086-EK&groupid=962&catid=1520&subcat=
its a universal block for the core only, you will have to buy mosfet coolers as well

i bought card off here on reommendation, i have no doubt of the cards performance but i did not stipulate i wanted to use a full block for it, i have not recieved it yet as it is a preorder, nor have i purchased a block yet, can i cancel it and purchase a refernce version ? will it be more money ?..im looking for a good card around £130 that will take a full block and back plate.

ok, dumped the 5850, now got a 460 which is reference and will take a full block...here are the pictures of my case, the reason i like this case is that it looks more like a peice of audio equipment in my front room in my bespoke cabinet, im not interested in bling and dont care what it looks like inside, i just want some quietness...so far i am fixed on the pump, pump top, rad and water blocks...my main concern now is the res and fittings...i may occasionally need to pull the unit from the cabinet, given that quick release fitings are expensive i only really want to afford these to the rad so i dont have to bleed everything, if i am removing the case it may be to install additional hdd but very unlikely....your thoughts on res and fittings ??
