one question

on the body it has a flip switch to change the setting from 1.5m - ? or 3.5m - ? is this to alter the minimum focusing distance? and if so what advantages are there to each setting?? thanks!!

when its set at 1.5 you mean?

No, the idea is that if you're shooting subjects over 3.5m away set it to 3.5m, that way if it loses focus the lens won't try and focus in the area where you don't want to shoot (closer than 3.5m). This means that in theory if it loses focus it will regain it quicker.

Obviously keep an eye on it and set it back to 1.5m for closer work.

Very nice purchase :)

The switch is there is make focus quicker. If you know you're not going to be focusing closer than 3.5 meters then switch it 3.5-infinity and the lens will not try to focus below 3.5 meters.

Switch is exactly for what others have said but in practical terms it helps you shoot through fences at motorsport venues without worrying that it will want to focus on the fence you are in front of.

Jealous +++++++++++ :p

That looks great :cool: Can't wait to see some photos!

All these new lens threads are making me a little jealous :p
