Ive currently got a 512 HDD which I've had a year or so,with 200mb left to play with, but the itch to get a nice shiny new SSD is here.

Now my problem arises when I read the forums about Raid, partitions updating the FireWire from a disk setting the bios to whatever needs doing.

So what I was thinking is I'd like a match in storage 512 in a single SSD and running it as the only drive in my PC,maybe down the road I'll add my old HDD back once I get the confidence to do so.

My board ATM is an Crosshair IV Extreme Amd motherboard do I just unplug my old HDD and reconnect it or do I use the sata 3 port over the 2?
Do I install windows straight away or enter the bios if so what changes do I need to see?

Last but not least could someone recommend a SSD my budget is about £550-£600 at a push bearing in mind I only want one I know two smaller ones to make same storage might be cheaper.

Thank you both for the quick replys, the two drives seem pretty sweet, out of both tho there is a massive ££££ difference,is there a serious difference between them or just ££ signs?

The Intel has a five year warranty rather than the three of the Crucial.
Difficult to justify an additional 170 quid though for me.

I would have said go for a 256GB ssd as that seems to be the sweet spot but the Crucial 512GB can't be beat for value for a reputable brand. (sold out though atm)
