yes, another first car thread :p nothing special, in fact the complete opposite end of the scale from special, but it was "inherited" from my dad who no longer needs a motor. It's been running very peachy for the last year with exception to it eating a steering stabiliser bar (£40 fix) and a couple of tyres, so has been very cheap to run, and i hope it will continue to be so. Passed it's MOT yesterday, insurance documents should come tomorrow for me to go and get the tax on it.

It's an N reg Vauxhall Cavalier 1.6 Concept.

Sorry about the quality ive only just snapped them and light was getting low

Interior is in pretty good condition, and it's had the rover hubcaps since it was bought lol, i have no idea. Runs pretty well, engine is quite smooth but the exhaust is possibly on its way out. It has a small bump obviously on the drivers sill, but that doesnt seem to have jeapordised the integrity of the structure.

Anyway, here's to my first year of driving and my first years NCB

Tom.

I've already said i'm busy on MM3 day :(

I'm really confused by the insurance really, it's some multi car policy thing with directline but they have assured my dad (who sorted it out) that i am the main driver and i get normal no claims :S for some reason because of the strangeness of the policy they've allowed my dad to use his no claims even though he's only a named driver, plus the fact we have directline house insurance, plus my sister being with them (all discounts) means it's come to about 800 quid for the year, which has really left me confused.

They are phoning my dad this evening to clarify everything though.

You'll want to check that any NCB that you accrue, will be transferable to any insurer - and not specific to direct line policies.

That was my first worry when my dad explained it, and it'll definitely be checked out.

You and that bloody camera. The car looks fantastic. Only bad bit I can see is the door sill.

Hope you enjoy it mate, shame your first car wasn't a Rover but this will probably be much nicer to drive than the 214.

My mum used to have a Cav. Great car! Never ever broke down in the 5 years that she owned it.

Directline have some strange policies, My parents added me as a named driver to one of the cars, and even tho I drive a company car and live miles away and I am still getting some kind of NCB with Directline! Probby Directline specific though.

Can't wait for all the documents to be sorted tomorrow so i can finally get out and drive the thing, was the first car i ever drove (on a car park a year and a bit a go) but ive never driven it on a road lol.

Not worried about the plates. They're already been used for a ram raid. :p

lol :) I dont see the point in hiding plates, hundreds of people see em everyday when you're driving anyway.

Andy, why can't you sign into MSN unless someone asks :p make it habit mate!

:D Because I always get millions of people talking to me (even if I'm set to busy/away).

If I'm on MSN I just find myself typing non-stop. I can't do anything else if MSN is open.

I hide my plates because if I ever post the spec list (engine mods or decent ICE installation) then people can't link the two together and go looking for my car :)

Tidy. Keep an eye on the dent in the sill - watch out that it doesn't start to rust, well worth whacking a few coats of paint over it.

Enjoy it, Cavaliers are alright, I'd rather a Cav than a Vectra that's for sure.
