Finally my review of my Porsche 911 C2S

£1500 is a steal for the PSE, surprised you got it for that in the first place regardless of the refund situation. Was it second hand?

Also will be interested to hear how you get on trying to get an OPC warranty with those non-Porsche bits on the car. Word on the grapevine is that they are very strict about that stuff to the point where a non-Porsche battery will void it/fail the inspection.

Incidentally Michelin Super Sports aren't N-rated yet and won't be until 2012 I'm told. Non N-rated tyres will definitely fail the inspection.

Nice car though :)

When I take the car for OPC warranty I shall put the stock filter and Silicone pipe back in place, only takes 10 minutes to do. :)

Everything else is original Porsche O.E. :)

Basically a friend who works at Porsche has said, get the warranty put on and then fit the none N-rated tyres because from a legal standpoint Porsche can't deny a warranty claim on a car because its running none N-rated tyres as it would never standup and from a legal standpoint they also can't enfore you to only fit n-rated tyres either. As long as you fit 4 equal quality tyres things will be fine, at the very worse they could get funny over a warranty claim to do with PASM as they could argue none N-rated tyres caused the issue.

No offence but I can't see how it would be a question of legality. At the end of the day you'll be signing an agreement that will specify that the car has to remain in the same configuration as when the inspection is carried out.

Like insurance it would be a matter of uberrima fides (utmost good faith), therefore if you do something contrary to this then it could void the contract.

Personally I wouldn't bet my car on "a mate who works for Porsche" opinion, but that's just me. Different strokes for different folks.

If I sign something that actually goes to such detail as to down to tyres than I will, but there is also understanding systems and how to make the rules work for you as well. :)

To my knowledge once the car has an OPC warranty the only *must* are that only the OPC can service the car and carry out repairs. However the owner can still fit their own consumables, so items like brakes, clutch and tyres I can do myself and choose who to do them.

I shall ask about if I have to sign anything that goes into such detail but from what I understand you don't, because I think when it comes to tyres Porsche can recommend you should only fit n-rated tyres but can't actually force you to do so as it could be considered monopolising the market, something I shall look into but those who already have warranties on their cars are fitting Super Sports without issue both in the UK and US. :)

I don't think Porsche are immune to block exemption so providing the correct procedures are followed and OE quality parts used any recognised garage can service the car.

Nice review mate, even though I still hate you for having a car I aspire to one day own I am glad you are enjoying it and driving it as it was made to be driven :)

Yeah suspect so, when I purchase the warranty end of this month I shall be sure to read all the small print. But from what I know in regards to tyres its:-

Porsche will give the car an approved warranty as long as its got Nspec tyres fitted all of the same type and same tread on each axle. To extend or place warranty on a car Nspec tyres have to be fitted.

Once the car has warranty from what I understand an owner can fit any 4 matching tyres they wish, Porsche just recommend N-Spec tyres and should a fault with PASM occur it could be a reason for them to not honour the warranty, though a canny customer could request they prove the use of none n-spec tyres caused the issue.

Basically my dilemma will be once the car has got warranty the best possible thing I can do is get the Pirelli's of the car as they are not the best and in 6 months or so I suspect they will be worn down anyway. It seems stupid to payout 1k on PS2's which are an improvement when I can have the even superior Super Sports and all owners of 911's who have fitted the Super Sports all say they are an improvement over PS2's in all conditions.

Agree with you on the Super Sports, I've heard the same.

Look forward to hearing your experiences sorting an OPC warranty as there is a lot of conflicting info around about the strictness of it all. Incidentally have you been made aware that you have to have owned the car for 90 days before you can put it in for inspection?

Yes and its now nearly been 90 days, time does fly. :)

Thats why I've got the car in my oppinion perfect and done everything Porsche requested doing on the 111 point check, right down to a Porsche battery, plus changed the filters, oil, plugs and coils as well whilst at it plus all the new performance bits and PSE. :D

Here's one of the interior for you too, I didn't actually get a chance to get anything better....maybe next time!

Clicky for bigger :)

Looks exactly like the Boxster S with nav I had as a courtesy car. The bottom 1/3 of the middle dash is identicle to mine except I'm missing 2 buttons (which would be the sport stuff I guess). Leather dash rocks as well, so much nicer than plastics!

How is the front end with the aerokit? does it help at all with the notorious 'light' feel at speed?

The front-end does not feel light at speed, but it does feel light when taking turns close to the limit, but since the GEO I have tons of confidence in the car in all situations. :)

Car now has 2yr Warranty with OPC. :)

Good result. Surprising given what I've been told by others (i.e. the strictness) but good news that they didn't have a problem with your mods.

Their response was they are Porsche genuine parts which you could buy over the counter and are intended for your car and hence not an issue. :)

But the car obviously had the X51 radiator kit, X51 manifolds and X51 undertray. :)
