Finally ordered our first LCD TV

Set up via HDMI right now, whilst the picture is crisp, Still have issues with the res. Will be giving it another whirl.

Mine arrived today, overall happy with it although the picture via aerial is is much better than the sky from scart. I haven't messed with any settings yet so we'll have to see how it goes.

Yep Sky and digital freeview are both compressed so quality varies.. and as sky use bandwidth for HD it seems to be getting worse. If you get a good analogue signal then that is usually much better than the garbage sky output.

At times I wonder if there is any need for HD, if SKy would just up the bandwidth on SD to acceptable levels folks would see a massive improvement.
 
The reason ITV on sky is garbage is because of there regional channels taking up bandwidth.

Theres a thread about it on the av forums. Its nothing to do with sky, itv rent the space on the sky transponder. Ive heard its a lot better through freeview.

Aye. I've noticed the PQ on my freeview receiver is sometimes better than the PQ on SKY, namely due to compression.
