Finally...

After two years of having to use a laptop on my lap or a tray whilst on the sofa so as the missus knows where I am as she thinks I'm being rude sitting on my own playing video games, she has finally caved in..

i'm getting a desk, and a comfy office chair along with a gaming keyboard and a 24" screen to use with the alienware M17x I just ordered..

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-028-AS&groupid=17&catid=510&subcat=

that will be so sweet to use, don't regret ordering the alienware laptop, although does make me think maybe I should have now got a desktop PC?

i'm just over the moon to be finally getting a desk to game at, no more using a sofa arm as a mouse pad...

Those who don't know, I've been sorta forced to play PC games on a laptop for years as the missus wouldn't get me game in another room saying it was rude. now, finally out of the blue she said I can always get a desk to put my new uber spec laptop on... I'm amazed, and what a difference this will make..

I actually got the alienware as it allows for PS3 to be plugged in and played on the laptops screen, however the monitor I've just ordered has HDMI so I'm well and truly sorted..

Thank you.... There is a god..!!

Can I just ask why you went for that screen over this?

YOUR BASKET
1 x BenQ GL2450 24" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black £119.99
Total : £131.09 (includes shipping : £9.25).

I'm not implying you've made the wrong choice as I know squat about this it's just that I bought the BenQ yesterday based on pretty much the looks/price and it's wall mountable...

Well done on getting your own way at last :D

Yeah we use BenQ at work, they are the widescreen option for those who need extra desktop space, I've been using one for a while, just decided against one as despite there being nothing wrong with them, its like when you work with them all day, you don't want it at home either..

Plus the Asus had HDMI as well, makes it easier to plug my PS3 into the screen without using an adapter..

Missus just said, hmmm maybe about time you got a desk to sit at.. I was totally flabbergasted. Wasted no time, ordered a desk, chair, screen and keyboard within a few hours lol

The BenQ is a nice monitor, plus is has a nice car on it :P "if only I looked at the car"
What car :confused::D

Fair play :)

worst I am getting a desk thread ever

Nah trust me, after not having a desk for such a long time you'd be amazed at how happy I feel right now, happy enough to even share in public..

Playing games on a laptop is fine, but playing them on a sofa does after a while get on your nerves. Using a sofa arm as a mouse pad sucks..

This is big news for me,big news indeed..:p

Do you not have a dining room table, or table somewhere in the house

I guess you could be a student.

Got a dining room table but its not the table thats been the issue. Its been where I'm sitting, thats been the issue. Missus always moaned I was sitting upstairs too much and not spending any time with her..

Then my daughter was born, and this put paid to the computer room as that got turned into a nursery, and well been on the sofa ever since..

Now we've got a three bed house, dining room, living room, garage blah blah blah.. But no desk, however from next week I shall have a computer desk.. lol Small things make such a difference. Guess missus finally got sick of me ****ging her choice of telly off, so decided its easier and quieter to just kick me back upstairs again lol

Cancel the laptop order and get a desktop.

Not only will you get better hardware for the same money... But your Mrs can't reverse her decision ;)

Nobody should go public with an Alienware purchase.

Wouldn't buy an alienware desktop, wouldn't buy any pre built desktop but i've ordered an alienware laptop and they are some of the quickest and highest regarded gaming laptops on the market..

Despite getting somewhere to game, a gaming laptop does have its uses.. Having a laptop capable of gaming is quite nice when I'm at work at the weekend and its dead and nothing to do..

i was in the exact same situation as you haha, had my computer hooked up to a 40'' plasma, went on a total impulse buy a few weeks back and bought a glass desk, office chair, LG IPS LED monitor, new keyboard, speakers etc, and i absolutely love it haha, so much easier and comfortable now

You could get an Acer with 50% more power at 50% the price, with 0% of the useless bloatware.

They look cool though, but Alienware are just not worth it at all, unless you literally have money falling out your backside.

Theres no bloatwware at all on AW.
