Okay so, Im finally upgrading.

Like I said before im running one 7950 now as I had to put one in my girlfriends computer, and this one of mine, the screen flickers now and then and its getting a bit slow for when im video recording etc now that I only have one GPU.

So, question is.

MSI gaming 390 - 250 quid

Or

MSI gaming 390X for 350 quid

I cannot seem to find a benchmark to compare the two and also to compare it to my 7950 (which is clocked higher than a 7970 bear that in mind)

Which would be worth going for the most?

And does anyone have some benchmarks?

Thanks!

Go for the 390, one of the best bang for bucks cards there is atm. Then next year will (Hopefully) be more options around that budget level.

AMD R9 390 vs R9 390X:

That's crazy. I knew 390 was good for the price but it's actually within 1-3 fps of the 390X/980 for £100 less. Amazing.

Yeah it would seem the 390 is better value, but I think at less than 100 quid more, the 390x for 10% extra is better.

If I had the mind set that I used to have which is, go for the cheaper one then buy another later on and crossfire, then id get the 390.

But I cant be bothered with crossfire again etc, I mean only thing I play is world of warcraft and I record a lot of videos aswell which does require extra grunt.
But its not worth having extra heat and noise for just warcraft, so the 390X I guess would last me a lot longer with 10% more performance, plus it would clock better im guessing?

So I guess, ill probably buy the 390x tomorrow.

Unless anyone convinces me to get the 390 from now until then :p

Edit: just watched that video, now I see what you guys mean about the 390. Christ tough decision now!

390/390x will be an awesome upgrade, superb dx12 performance and a nice 8GB frame buffer.

Absolutely murders the 970/980 in dx12 games also.

Yurp, at the different price points these are my picks.

Lower budget > GTX 960 (Free Game) £150 job done.
Mid budget > R3 390 £250, great bang for buck.
High budget > GTX 980 Ti £499+ (Free game) Performance monster.

Any of those are a good pick in their respective budgets imho, wouldn't bother with anything else atm. (Future price changes could mix things up).

@ the OP, R9 390 makes sense and than change up for a 14nm card next year.
