Finance Options?

Bah! My CD10 does not come off till January 24th, so it looks like I will have to wait till then to get the car. My current insurer will not insure the 330i (but they will the 325d) Additionally, most quotes on the 330i that I get with the CD10 are a couple of grand or more.

It drops down to around 850ish without it. So looks like I will now have to wait till then to complete the deal :(

Very annoying. Not so much as a mutter for the insurance on the 325d, i really didnt think there would be that much of a change for the 330i?!

I am very glad i found out though, as I would have been insured with incorrect details. I was under the assumption (wrongly it seems) that its not the offence date, but the conviction date they use!

They want to give me a 3k allowance to cover "small scuffs and dents" (smart repairs) for £898 total? Is it worth it? Contains gap insurance/supaguard.

woth it?

No of course its not! None of the stuff the try and pedal is worth it.

Not still trying for that 325d are you? Don't buy a 325d.

Depends what they class as a small scuff or dent and how clumsy you are.

I drove an E60 into a gate a while ago and scuffed the near-side front bumper just below the headlight (about the radius of a yellow melon).

I got it fixed at a BMW repair centre for ~£250 so effectively I could have done that three times and been better off without the insurance.

Also, can't you get this sort of cover from a 3rd party for a lot less?

as Fox says - ignore all the crap they try and sell you. I must have got 5 calls in a week before I picked up my 530D a while back about trying to sell me all the rubbish and the price was coming down all the time.

They will try and flog you all sorts.

None of it is worth the money. If you want GAP insurance buy it online for 100 quid not 450 quid from BMW. The repair package is just a gamble, you are basically betting £900 that you'll need more than £900 worth of scuffs and dents fixed! There is a limit to what they'll do as well, its only SMART repair stuff.

There is only one thing you want from a BMW main dealer - as much warranty as you can possibly get. Haggle hard - you want to go away with 2 years. It will cost you £540 a year for the insured warranty zero excess with emergency service after your AUC warranty expires provided you are sub 60 miles. Therefore any price you can negotiate below this is a good deal. The wholesale price is around £400. Get them to chuck in the second years warranty, if you get nowhere, offer to pay something towards it, but get it.

I've not got much to add to the thread apart from Vines of Guildford have been without question the least helpful main dealer I've ever visited. I've been in there 3/4 times specifically with the intention of test driving a car and potentially buying it and they've done everything in their power to be the most useless dealer they could possibly be.

Maybe I just got unlucky, but they were terrible.

I got it :D

Travelling up to the Dealer on Monday to collect it, at 3pm :)

330i - March 2008 - 16850 price, including
Upped the milage to 20k, just as it was not much to do, and works out cheaper than paying the excess fees.
2 years extended warranty included
12 months road tax included
Being MOTed tommorrow, as there was not long enough left on the original MOT to meet BMW approved standards
SupaGuard+GAP and smart repair (paid 300 extra for it, after twisting his arm)

Thanks guys for helping me get a better deal and car!

You realise GAP can be purchased for all of about £75 online and is exactly the same product. Waste of money buying dealer GAP, SupaGuard and Smart Repair if you ask me.

Glad you went for a decent engine, how did you find Guildford BMW?

Nice car but what the hell at paying for the gap! I told you it was pointless :p

No discount on screen price either?

Tax included/2nd year warranty free
Full Tank.

He was adamant that the price had been reduced the day before I contacted him, and was already at rock bottom. I did push quite hard on that, but no go, but they were keen to add stuff in for free after i said i would walk away.

If you can afford to throw away hundreds then you're doing alright for yourself.

30 seconds of Googling and I've found 4 years worth of Gap cover on your car for under half the price you paid.
