Financially worth it?

Ok basically at the moment I'm at Surrey University studying Business Management, and am in my second week. I have just been talking to my parents and I'm beginning to wonder whether financially it is worth me being here. Because I'm studying business management I only have 9 hours of lectures a week, whereas other subjects have atleast 20 hours for the same £3000 tuition fee's and this hardly seems fair to me. The second point is I'm having to pay nearly £3000 for my accomodation fee's to be down here for 9 hours of lectures and the rest to do self motivated work which could be done anywhere really. I know I'll come out with a degree at the end of it but I'm just wondering whether it's worth getting into so much debt for 9 hours of lectures a week when I could be back in Huddersfield doing the same course at a slightly less reputable University but saving a hell of a lot of money. And before any of you start I do realise I should have thought of this before hand. So what do you guys think?

That's the thing I'm supposed to be learning in my own time in those hours but if I were in Huddersfield I could be doing that for free living with my parents rather than being down here.

I read somewhere that the actual cost to the tax payer of a 3 year degree is somewhere in the region of £33,000 also consider that a graduate will often start on twice that of a school leaver and its well worth it imo, also consider that uni is more than just getting a piece of paper, for most its a great life experience.

That's why I went - I didn't *need* to go to uni at all, I could've opted to carry on working with my company - but there's so much more to it than learning and getting a degree :)

Jack it in and get to Huddersfield
468 Hours of Lectures a Year (thats including 9 Hours a week for Christmas etc)
As opposed to a total of 8736 Hours in a Year.

£3000 for 468 Hours of Lectures, no ta.

Hours of lectures != what you get out of the degree, though :)

True, but I just couldn't be bothered to pay £3000 for that amount of time learning
I am living at home, so of course I will be bias :D

Get a part timejob and enjoy being somewhere different.

Even if you were to go back to Huddersfield you'd be missing out on half of what uni is about if you didn't go into halls there.

Living with your parents might half the cost, but it's also going to half the experience and who knows, you might enjoy expanding your number of mates rather then sticking to the ones in Huddersfield.

there is always a hoohah about tuition fees and how some courses have more contact hours than others etc.

Don't go home and do uni, it'll be rubbish - money isn't the only thing about university. Stay down there and get yourself a job and enjoy your time there.

stick with it. if you're willing to paying the tuition fee's and have accomodation then stay. these are the best years of your life don't moan about having low hours, enjoy the rest of the time.
