Find Out Your Car Reliability

But, that's just for the Jaguar XJ8 from 97 onwards, the car was completely changed in 2003 with the launch of the totally new X350 alu bodied design, which has proven much more reliable than the older ones. That site does not have a category just for that model of XJ though sadly, so I don't think it provides an accurate reflection.

There is only 1 option for Celica's. It doesn't take in to account the type of Celica. ST, SR, GT, GT4.

The average repair of a GT4 must be higher. I mean when your Super strut needs replacing your talking thousands! And they don't call GT4 'faffs' for no reason!

I drive a pre-facelift GT and the repair costs have been reasonable. My average repair cost has been nothing close to £386...

The other month i had my cam belt changed, new water pump, thermostat, oil change, engine flush, oil filter change, rad flush, and front pads for just over £300. And that was a MAJOR service, not an average repair.

oh, i have no idea who you are, but i do know your an amazing person, and all the ladies must love you. Why? Because you drive what is probably the greatest car in the world. Just like me :D

Edit,

Just noticed that it thinks the average age of a gen6 Celica is 7.14 years. As they stopped production 10 years ago, it makes me think these stats are a load of rubbish. It also states the average milage is 57931.97, which is, well, wrong.

Am I winning?

I believe the cost, but not the reliability is low = better. But then I also don't believe the average age of 2.92 years - almost everyone I know who has one, owns one older than that.

Its helpful to understand where the figures come from. Warranty Direct are a warranty company and therefore the data comes from claims they have received. Obviously the Gen 6 Celica is now so old they wont cover them so they only have historical data from when they DID have policies covering the Gen 6. From that data, the average age of the cars CLAIMED FOR was 7.14 years with a mileag of 57931.

The whole thing is based on claims made.

FWIW, my car:

Reliability Index 96.80
Average Age 5.51

Average Mileage 62395.28
Time off the Road 2.08

Average Repair Cost £316.19

Remember if they only ever covered one example of a Car W and the engine exploded and it cost £2k it will get a rubbish rating, whereas if they sold 999,999 policies for a Corsa and only 1000 people claimed it'll get a great rating.

Could have been worse I guess. Though I'm not sure where they get that average repair cost from, mine's cost nothing like that.

Jaguar X-type 2.5 Sport V6 Manual.
Had mine over two years, so far all I have paid for is 5 tyres and a new keyfob :)

Because, as I explained above, its based on stats from WARRANTY CLAIMS. Given most of the policies they offer have an excess anyway people wont claim for a 30 quid fault.
