Well there was no reward because she is a mad old woman carrying lots of money around on a bus in a bag...

At least there are lots of nice people in Austria/the world.

Because I watch too much film and television I'd automatically assume there were hidden camera and it was a trap to see how honest people are, I'd be on the edge man...like far out.

Say you did keep it, how would you get away with it?

that is a lot of money - you'd be senile to put it in the bank
and crazy to keep it at home
so what would you do?

Start a taxi business then book all the miles I do as fairs & launder my own money back into the business. Obviously the miles I do will just be wandering around spending my moneys & picking up loose women.

Wrong

The law states if a substantial amount of money is simply found in the street, in a carrier bag or paper bag you are perfectly right to do with it as you please.
Much like if you just happen across a £20 note on the pavement.

If money is found in a wallet or briefcase on the other hand, it can be considered theft.

I disagree as the law states that you must take 'reasonable steps' to locate the owner of found property, unless you can clearly see at the point of finding that the property has been abandoned and not simply lost. There is no way that you could successfully argue, in my opinion at least, that by finding a large sum of cash in a carrier bag that you were right to assume that it had been 'thrown away' deliberately.

I suppose if you wanted the keep the money all you'd really need to do is not be open about the fact you have it. Tell nobody and don't spend any significant amount of it for a while. Who would know?

Wouldn't it depend on how content the said person is?

I mean, if I have no debts and I'm happy doing what I am at that point when I find the cash, I'd hand it in.

Right now, I have debts and bills up to my eyes, so I'll be a naughty boy :(

Kudos to the driver tho!
