Ive got a video file, but I have no idea what codec it uses. When I play it, the sound works, but the video doesn't. Whats the best way of finding out what codec it uses? There is nothing listed in the properties of the file.

google gspot. ;)

Gspot couldn't figure it out. And VLC doesn't sort it either. :( AVIcodec says its an Mpeg2, but the codec ive just tried for that doesn't get it to work either.

Had 1 or 2 files VLC could never play, for anything it doesnt play, BS Player seems to work fine for me.

Primarily use VLC, just adding the above incase you get stuck again.
