finding what the program running is

every now and again i am getting box pop up on the taskbar (im having a really dumb moment and im not sure if its called taskbar? the bit at the bottom with the clock lol) the trouble im having is that i have no clue what it is as it only pops for up for literally a second and theres no name and the picture is of like a program running, its a white box with a blue line at the top.
nwo how would i go about finding out what this is as its only for a split second that its there? i have run spyware and hasnn;t made it go

Does it pop up randomly or at the same time, eg. when you start Windows or when you do a certain thing.

its about every 15 minutes. i think its to do with hp drivrs i i just updated them the other day which is when this i think started

Well you can look in the task manager to see what processes are running, and use msconfig to see what programs are starting when Windows starts. Not sure what else to suggest really

yeah i have looked and theres a few hp ones which i have all could be it by the sounds of it from searching google. i have canceled all and deleted a few in the hopes it will go. im not sure if thats it though but if not i will post back

It's probably an update service for HP maybe?
