Finished new build, slightly odd temps using an H100i?

Hi all,

Just finished building my new computer, couldn't be happier, except for the fact that my download speeds are god awful so installing my steam library is going to take months!

Anyway, I used an H100i in this new rig, attached to a i5 4670K and a UD3-H Gigabyte motherboard. Now I know nothing about what temps should be at this point as this is the first computer I have ever built, but my BIOS says that my CPU is idling at 45-46 degrees. Which seemed on the high side to me, I know that the weather has been warm the last few weeks so that might be it, I'm just looking for a little closure!

You could try re-sitting it etc. , making sure all 4 screws are equally tight.
Not sure how haswell compares but my i5 3570k at stock runs around 25 degrees using a H60 on a Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H.

Usually in the BIOS the CPU is under small amount of load, but ideally check in windows and run the CPU at full load.

Just for future reference about your steam library.

If you have the space on another hdd, make a backup of your SteamApps folder (located in your main steam folder).

Then if you need to reinstall steam, add the SteamApps folder and then activate your steam account.

You may have to update some games but all will be there.

This ideally, the CPU will run hotter in the BIOS due to the small load, I found it strange at first and got confused.

Run Prime95 to get your max temperatures under full load. Idle's aren't really to be worried about.

Takes the paste a few hours to burn in properly, the temps should drop by a few degrees with use I reckon.

40ish degrees idle isn't bad given ambient can be around 30 in daytime imo.
