One of the machines i'm running F@H isn't updating my stats.. Unfortunately, it's a GUI version rather than the console. No choice i'm affraid.

Looking a the log, it clearly states that the WU is complete and has updated Stanford but i don't think it is.

To prove this, none of my other machines are crunching today except this one, as i knew it would finish a WU this morning, which it did but my account has not updated with credit. ???

Any ideas?

Is this pc that has been left on overclocked at all? If the pc is unstable and the WU has been completed but with errors this might effect the credits given? Just a thought.

.. btw i do have two instances of F@H running on this machine.. One is console which is working fine and the other is the GUI..

Do they need seperate machine IDs?

I've noticed in the GUI log ..

[07:47:44] - Ask before connecting: No
[07:47:44] - Proxy: www-proxy:8080
[07:47:44] - Proxy password enabled
[07:47:44] - User name: Huddy (Team 10)
[07:47:44] - User ID: 60B8740215C70155
[07:47:44] - Machine ID: 1

but there is no option to change this.. or am i barking up the wrong tree..

They should have different Machine ID numbers. The GUI client does not let you change it so you'd best set the other to some other number.

As for the logs all looks OK to me there. I'm wondering if the servers haven't updated yet or if it's one of the ones that fell through the cracks that will get credited when they run the recrediting script. If it remains lost by this time tomorrow I'll make a thread about it at the official forums and ask an admin to look up the WU in the database to see what happened to it. To do that I'll need the Project, Run, Clone, and generation numbers for the Wu. You'll find them in your fahlog.

can i change the machine ID half way through a process?

I've just tried amending the config file in the GUI directory using notepad, bu it reset the damn thing..

I'll see how it goes but i've now restarted my others machines so it will be a bit dificult to see what process is generating what results..

Thanks guys ..

Sure you can. You need to first stop the console in services.msc. I suspect this was your problem. Then open up the console with -configonly. If you did exactly what the sticky said to do, you just have to open up your shortcut to the console. Once it's open you'll go through the configuration process again. Enter the advanced settings and go to the last question. Tell it some other number. It'll then close and you can restart the service.

if you're using one GUI and one Console client then you'll probably need to use the -local flag on at least the console (maybe even on both clients)

you've probably already done this but if not it is probably worth doing

Stanford don't recommend editing the config file using Notepad. It's not technically a text file so although it sometimes works, other times you'll corrupt the file in which case the client will just recreate it. I suspect that's what happened to you.

I have an idea what may have happened with your points. As both your clients have the same machine ID, you might have been assigned the same WU twice. This happens because if two clients with the same user ID and machine ID connect to the server, from the server's perspective it's the same client. So if the last WU hasn't been returned by the first client when the second client asks for a WU, the server assumes the PC has lost it and issues the same unit again. In that case you wouldn't have received any points the second time the unit was returned.

Can you check your logs to see if both clients had the same unit?

Add it to the "target" area of the shortcut that leads to it in the "Startup" folder of your Start menu. It's in the sticky with pretty pictures.

EDIT: Ok, I lied, there're no pictures for this part. Nonetheless, it's step 6 in the GUI setup bit. :o
