Hi all,

The opening of my fireplace is 35" in height and 25.5" in width, and I'm having difficulty finding a guard that will fit a fireplace of this size.

I have come across "decorative fire guards" sold by a shop on the high street with a big catalogue. What do they mean by this? Do they mean it can't stop kids from flying into it, or do they mean it can't take any heat or stop embers?

Can anyone recommend any places that sells something that will stop embers from flying out of the fireplace? I'm looking for something below £50 if possible.

Thanks

A decorative fireguard is used when the fire is not lit, to make a more pleasant view than a pile of dirty and sooty ash.

You might not need a fireguard the full height of the fire. Get down to a salcage yard, or a fireplace reclaimers or something. Or, make something from some mesh and metal out of B&Q/
