Long shot, but has anyone decorated using paint from Fired Earth?

I've found some colours I like but then a colleague said it was rubbish paint and took loads of coats.

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

No idea about paint from Fired earth but B & Q do the Dulux range that can be mixed to your taste, massive ammount of colours. Also they can mix your colour in the "Dulux Once" range and from my expierience it is fantastic stuff.

I have just paint over a load of test squares on one of our walls with a very light coloured paint and it has covered a very deep plum area with just the one coat.

They will also mix tester pots ofyour chosen colour for £2 iirc.

Yeah, I was considering going down the mixing route.

We've got a Homebase near us rather than a B&Q though, anyone know what their mixing service is like?

The other problem is that I've got quite a bit to do in the same colour, one 12m long room and then a hall, stairs and landing. I'd need to make usre I got enough mixed in one go otherwise I'd be suppered with slight diferences wouldn't I?

Homebase is no different from B&Q in my experience. They use the same process to mix the paint, so the service will depend on how lazy the staff are.
Doesn't matter if you don't get enough to start with, as the colour is mixed by machine and uses precise amount of paint to make each colour. I bought two tins of the same colour paint two weeks apart and they were an exact match. Providing you remember the name and shade of the colour you get, you'll be fine.
