Firefox 16.0 (BETA)

Since I disable all plugins (a great feature of Chrome) I never have problems with flash intensive sites. The feature is especially good as you can then manually select which flash or silverlight elements to load by clicking on them. Thus on sites which have multiple videos when you only want to view one it significantly improves the page load speed.

Just tried disabling all of my addons on chrome and the page does load much faster, however, I need my addons so this isn't an option, which I can't even consider

This is wrong. Chrome does remember your position on a page when you close the browser and re-open it. I just tested it in the latest stable version of Chrome.

Just tried it myself there, opened a tab, scrolled half way down, pinned it and restarted chrome, brought me back to the very top again. Is there a setting for this or something?

User styles look rubbish on all browsers.

Not true, I use the ocuk dark style, a gametrailers style amongst a few others and they look better on firefox, not as much of a difference as it use to be. Plus for IMDB, the dark theme, on chrome the right side boxes aren't even themed, they remain white where as on firefox they are dark grey

Can't say I've noticed myself but I'll concede this one.

Tried this with all addons disabled and again it was better but not as good as firefox and once again, not an option for me to disable addons

The other major advantage of Chrome is the easy syncing of bookmarks, settings and plugins. I never have to manually install a plugin or change the configuration of Chrome when I use a new computer as these are all automatically synced when I login. Until Firefox has something like this I will never use it as a primary browser.

I never use this feature, but I am pretty sure firefox has a sync feature for history, bookmarks, addons as well

Oh and even better Chrome allows you to specify your own encryption key for the synced data so you can be sure your data is reasonably safe (not that it really matters that much to me).

True, never use it either though, so not a deciding factor for me :p

If you use Adblock Plus on Chrome you get the same behaviour as Firefox for ad blocking and space removal.

Yup I use adblock plus beta on chrome. One site in particular it happens is neowin

As mrk said I would love to use chrome as my main browser too, but due to the above, I just can't. Although I do kind of prefer my firefox UI and the rectangle tabs instead.

Also on a SSD and chrome starts up instantly but firefox takes like a second (although I do keep at least 3 tabs pinned for it)

Pretty much the only reasons keeping me with Firefox is that it shows the page once it loads everything, instead of showing everything while it loads, giving a more snappy feel. The level of customization is also greater on Firefox, I've set things such as home button, download tab, etc in places which I felt made my browsing more comfortable. Not to mention when I'm on image heavy sites, it does feel smoother and faster with Firefox. I've found Chrome extensions for everything else, the only thing I prefer about Chrome is the syncing feature which works perfectly. I have Firefox sync but honestly when syncing between my desktop and laptop I find it can sometimes mess up a lot and idiotly uninstalls all my addons.

For those Chrome users who wants the Chrome look on Firefox ;): https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fxchrome/

The only UI areas I prefer for firefox is the toolbar/URL area and bookmarks section, I prefer everything else on chrome

Hopefully australis will arrive soonish for firefox, but not holding my breath :p

I was using the UX build, but updates seem to have stopped for it and there are a few annoying niggles with it so gone back to the stable firefox version for now and TBH there isn't as huge of a difference between them in terms of speed and smoothness since I got a SSD.
