The second and third posts in this thread pretty much says it all. Linking to a single FTP server is a bad idea too.

Official release should be today sometime.

The first suggestion would be make sure you're running the latest version of Java.

It's just the JAVA console, JAVA applets work fine, for those who don't need the console (almost everyone) it's a non issue.

There's loads of reasons to hang fire rather than jumping on the bandwagon, like not killing the FTP server for the sake of a few hours.
The updater does give you a download that's a tenth of the size...

Firefox is 5MB, 5MB even on a 1MB connection takes the time to DL it would take for someone who speaks really slowly to say "appletini" !

If a couple of hours is too long to wait, a few minutes to download and install it probably is too :shrug:

Why do people always presume this? I simply look at sigs I don't remember and see if they break the rules. It's not like I make a huge point of it either. Would you prefer I just RTM'd you and left it for a moderator to give you a yellow sig?
