Firefox 2.0 Lag Problem

I've just got around to upgrading to firefox 2.0 (2.0.0.4 to be exact)
I've been running previous versions of firefox for a long time now and thought I would upgrade to the latest version, however the new version seems to lag very badly on my system.

I find this quite funny and quite anoying at the same time as my specs are well high :

AMD 4400 X2
2 Gb Corsair Ram
2 x BFG 7800 GTX OC cards (SLI Mode)

Also running a raptor as my main C Drive.


The problem is that text entering lags behind my keyboard typing on the screen, also clicking to open stuff on web pages also lags.

I've tried uninstalling it etc, but no joy, however the problem goes again when reverting back to the old 1.5 versions of firefox

Can anyone help?

Tried safe mode and/or a new profile?
You'll probably find some things break going back a major version like that.

thanks mate, that seems to have solved it, could not find anything about on mozilla, I knew these forums would help

You'll find it all over the place on Mozillazine, including the knowledgebase.
Lots of things are the result of extensions or leftover/corrupt data that are a one in a million case.
