Firefox 2.0 released this morning

Why shouldn't you be able to just upgrade from a previous version, also if you unistall don't you loose all your cookies etc. So you'd have to re-enter all your username/pw credentials for internet banking sites etc.

a) I don't save password forms for banking sites.
b) I can remember every single login name and password for every single site/forum I'm a member of, and re-typing them is hardly what I'd consider a chore.
c) You can upgrade from a previous version....I didn't, but a lot of people did just run it straight over the top of 1.5.0.7 and it kept all their extensions, bookmarks, passwords etc.

a) I don't save passwords but I do saves login details
b) So you type them in each an everytime you login, I guess as long as you don't mind that's the main thing ;)
c) Fine, sorry to report that it didn't work very well for me.

I forgot to back up my bookmarks/passwords etc. or do anything and just installed fine no problems, I guess it's because i don't care :D . IE7 on the other hand now that's a different story

I actually only just realised with this release that you can download different themes for the interface.

thats been a feature, since, like, forever!

Using it at home, didn't notice huge improvements over Firefox 1.5, but then I rarely had hassles at home only on at work when I'm monitoring did the memory hog (ITS NOT A LEAK) get to be a pain.

The memory leak occurs for few people because most people use the program like it is meant to be used, ie a browser - you open it, look at a few pages and close it. A few people (like a friend of mine) seem to like to just leave their browser open until they next reboot (a few days?), after about five hours of usage with firefox just on the task bar (at least the old versions) you could see reported memory usage of about 500mb or so, the obvious solution is of course is to shut the program and stop whining. Hell what page requires 5 hours+ of persistent open time?

They've made a terrible mistake with one of their shortcut keys!

They've made Alt+S = History, which messes up the quick-reply shortcuts on almost every single internet forum package!

I've notcied it uses a lot less ram on my computer now as well. Firefox is using 37mb Vs IE7 27Mb. Both only have one website open but IE7 is on windows update. Dare I say it, I think Microsoft have done a great job with IE7. I'm using it more and more often! Hopefully Vista will follow in IE7s foot steps :)

Has anyone else had a problem with the loading icon in the top right of the FF window underneath the X to shut the window? In 1.5.0.7 clicking on that made FF follow the URL as set in the config under the throbber value. I just clicked on that now to get to Mozilla.com and it didn't work. I used about:config to check that the throbber URL value was still there and it was. Clicking on the icon does nothing. Is this meant to be?

In the last release someone on these fine boards made a menu for the OCUK forums and it's not compatable with 2.0. I love that menu, any chance of an update? Can't remember who made it.

Works fine in 2.0 for me.

well firefox is good but i have had memory leaks... it starts off being nice at say 30mb and then jumps to about 100mb if u leave it open for a while. if i have a divx playin in wmp u notice things start to get choppy and i instantly know what it is. close firefox down and hey things are smooth again... shame cos i actually prefer it to ie7 but ie7 doesnt have the memory leaks.

Mines doing that. It jumps from 37mb and always ends up at 80mb-100mb

FF says it's not compatible with version 2.0 any ideas?
