FireFox 3.0.1 released

Where to start? It includes things I didn't type manually so if I try and type forums.overclockers it will show a whole list of threads before showing the root of the forums. It's far far too big, it doesn't look very pretty and is pretty useless in general.

Once you've selected the root of the forums once, it will appear at the top of the list next time.

Kinda shows that you haven't actually given it a chance, like most of the other people moaning about the smart location bar!

already updated to 3.0.1 wee while ago - Fx3 seem good run, next one is 3.1 due start in 2009 - not same codename -- Fx3 is Gecko 1.9 and Fx3.1 is Gecko 1.9.1 so 6 month to go for next one..

I haven't used FireFox since version 2. I have been using Opera 9.51. However, I am downloading FF3.01 to see if it's any better. I also want to find out what this, "AwesomeBar" you guys are on about, is like. :p

AwesomeBar is a slightly worse version of Operas url bar :p. Opera does everything is does but also searches page indexing too :) So you won't notice much ;)

It's not broken when standards are adhered to, that's the whole point of the test; also, some browsers do pass it.

That would be why it's also broken in Opera, Konqueror, Safari et al? :D

It works in Fx3 - looks like it's fixed now (here at least), but it was/is an issue with the site sending a broken image...

There's actually a test to make sure Acid2 doesn't get re-broken.

Looks like I will be going back to my beloved, Opera 9.51. Just don't like the feel of FX3. Also, it just...isn't comfortable as Oprea is...

Maybe next time, hey Mozilla? :p

I quite like this release of firefox, after installing a few extensions, it works ok for my liking, but it will only ever be a backup browser when some pillock can't code things properly to begin with, but then again a lot of that time it doesn't work with Fx either :( Demand Five, ITV catchup etc... It's rather frustrating to say the least! One thing i truly do love is PicLens, and i wish i could get that on opera, but tbh its only bling, and i don't rely/use it enough to justify moving...

Until you visit a thread, or visit the forums through not typing, then it seems to sit at the bottom again.

Well, if you visit a thread more often than you do the forum index, then yes, it will appear at the top. That's the whole point of the location bar - if you visit one page more often, then having it top of the list is probably most useful to you.

Personally I now rarely type URLs of pages I've already visited. It's much easier to type titles. If I type 'ov ind' then the forum index comes up first every time, and it's quicker than typing the URL. I don't think the brain naturally thinks in terms of URLs.

I remember when i was using Voyager & IBrowse on the AMIGA that pages & links in a page visited would be of a different colour & would not change back to default colour until the content had changed.
Is there any setting or add-on for FF like that ?.

EDIT: I found LinkVisitor but that does not change the colour of the links & you have to right click over a link to see if you have been there which is slow.
EDIT2: Just installed Opera & it does exactly what i was asking for.
EDIT3: Dammit FF has got it as well as i was testing a few links & its site & link dependent like Opera.
