Not all of the "updates" are being rolled into 3.6, only the process separation for plugins. The only thing that really changes is that there won't be a big release called 3.7 but a series of releases with as yet undetermined versions numbers, some of which (such as OOPP, which doesn't really change anything from the user perspective) will be provided under the banner of "security and stability" updates like, say, 3.5.6.
The mozilla-central nightlies are still called 3.7a1pre though; there's no point changing that for the time being.
