Thought to let you all know that it's out now.

I have just downloaded and installed it, it feels much lighter and snappier than the old version!

A very useful feature is typing your bookmark/history on the address bar. :)

What's the deal with the version number?

Nevermind, I found the link to v3

Using it now, seems very good. I prefer Safari though, it blends in better on my dock, the FF icon just sticks out. Also, Safari's toolbars don't take up as much space. Firefox just looks bloated to me on the Mac, and I use it on my PC desktop + laptop.

If you like the backend functionality of Firefox you should know that you can change all the chrome to fit your tastes, most specifically nuking the status bar and moving the page load progress indicator to the URL bar. Changing to a different icon is about a 5 second job in OS X.

If, of course, you prefer the way Safari works and can do without your extensions you needn't do a thing. :)

Have used it since beta. It's good, quicker than Webkit and less of a RAM hog. Looks good too.
Mmmm, I think that KHTML is still faster, especially in JavaScript rendering, but Fx3 brings the gap much closer together. For me Fx is able to do so much more that it would be silly to switch over to Safari for a few percent increase in speed.

Wow, I'm really impressed with this. It's insanely quick and obviously the benefits of having the better features means that Safari doesn't quite have that edge anymore.

I always found any version of FF2.x for Mac very buggy - especially when working with Java applets but this is completely stable for me at the moment.

Seriously tempted to switch default browser now.

Argh, one thing I don't like is sometimes when I come out of full screen on the Tube, it will just refresh the page and the video and buffering will start all over again. Obviously not serious but a pain nevertheless.

Firebug and Web Developer are totally essential for me. The alternatives just don't come close, and Firefox 3 is an excellent improvement. I was only looking for the speed/bloat improvements as the bookmarks feature doesn't really apply to me *strokes Social Bookmarks and Quicksilver*

For me the new look that is consistent with other Mac apps was worth the wait alone. I'm sure there must have been a way to modify the theme yourself but I'm just too lazy to start faffing about.

Safari is in trouble now (for me, at least)
