Firefox 5 , Final?

Better/Worse/significant changes?

I tried FF4 again after a long time away from it and for some reason it was horrendously (relatively speaking) slow on my system compared to Chrome and IE9 (like I have 8 home page tabs open on start up, it's still pretty instant on IE & Chrome but would take 10secs in FF for some odd reason).

It certainly loads up quicker for me from a cold boot. Since I don't usually open it with more than about three tabs I don't know if that is any quicker. Pages are loading slightly quicker too. On Ocuk I don't get the blue popping up before the dark theme sets in though that might be due to better JS handling.

For some reason I really want to like FF, perhaps it appeals to me that it's not MSs IE9 (which is now a pretty good browser but still "mainstream"), and it's not Chrome (frankly I like and trust Google and what they're doing less each week). I like the idea of my web access being through an "idependant" and "neutral" browser.

Having said that I tried FF4 and now have tried FF5 for a couple of days. It seems a decent enough browser, but by comparisson the Chrome and IE9 it "feels" a bit slow and flabby. I'm not using any add-ons, and perhaps that's the bit i'm missing. If I relied on noscript and a bunch of other add-ons perhaps FF would be on the button. As it is it strikes me as a middle ground between IE9 and Chrome with no particular advantage over either.

Except perhaps the add-ons, and as I don't really use them maybe that's why FF5 has been a bit of a let down for me.

Off to investigate Chromium, and see where Iron is up to next :)

Only difference I've seen if the tracking option in the privacy settings.

Noticed no speed increase at all.

All addons work, NoScript, AdBlock plus etc.

I think 5 should have heralded some WebGL advancements but proof of concept exploits including being able to read the memory space of previous images has put paid to that for now.
