Firefox 64-bit is here

x64 is definitely more responsive on media heavy pages such as random gif threads. x86 would chug along while the gifs load, x64 just piles through them like they're nothing. Same for mansize threads with youtube embeds.

I didn't like Waterfox, so I started using 'Light' - a 64bit version of FF stripped down to the essentials. No pocket, hello or other stuff I don't use. Light had issues with youtube so I switched back to regular Firefox, but ill give this one a try for sure
Also why did they remove flexspace? It was so useful, now all my icons are squished at the end of the screen

Switched last night, no appreciable difference really, that I've noticed. Wouldn't even know it's the x64 version as it doesn't seem to say anywhere.

I'm getting horrid stutters with 43.0.1 (or pauses, for 4-5 seconds, if you will) when doing pretty much anything. Every few minutes. Very annoying :[.

I've just bought a new computer with Windows 10 and would like to install another browser.

I used Firefox on my old XP computer but lately it would stall when trying to view certain pages, my bank for example. FF 32 bit wasn't compatible with with some Kaspersky add-ons, certainly NOT anti banner, internet banking etc

Could someone please advise me regarding my questions listed below?

As for Java and Flash - I've not even installed them and have no intention.

Could you please advise me the benefits of NOT installing them? Are they NOT installed by default?

Switched over the other day and stopped having near constant Flash Player crashes.

What exactly is a Flash Player Crash, how would I identify one?

However, I cannot wait until Flash and Silverlight is shot.

Why would that be?

Thank you

Have to postpone the update for myself at work, since a lot of stuff relies on Java annoyingly.

However I've been Flash free for about a year now! So I have that going for me which is nice.

You can use Java on 64bit too. They have a 64bit version.

I don't have Java installed at home, no website I browse out of the 200 or so bookmarked requires it. I have it installed for work though as various web apps we use require it. NO issues other than the tedious updates what seems like every other week.

For me any video that uses Flash Player would suddenly stop playing then Firefox would say that the plugin has crashed. I would have to stop the plugin then hard refresh the page.

Try disabling hardware acceleration for your video card in FF browser, this can improve stability.

They block the Java plugin now. Or rather I haven't found a reasonable way of forcing 43 to allow me to use it. This is in both 32 and 64 bit.

The last time I encountered a website that uses java was when I was a BE (ISP) customer about eleventy billion years ago.

I stil have it installed for a couple of .jar files I need to run though.

At home I only have it installed for Minecraft so that's fine, but work has a bunch of things I need to run in the browser that are Java based :(

It's for the best because Java web plug-in is lethal. IE is my go to browser for java web plug-in support.

You should disable Java in the browser.

The latest version of Minecraft bundles Java.
