Firefox and profiles?

I was looking at a site before and it started going a bit funny, so i closed firefox and restarted. Then it came up with a profile box, click on the start button. Says the default profile is in use?

I made a new one, now all the bookmarks have gone :(

Any ideas how to change back?
 
ah now, ive seemed to have sorted it. I edited the profiles.ini..

Now after that little scare, how the hell do i backup my bookmarks? :D

Quackers, open FF, click on Bookmarks in the menu bar at the top, and from the drop down menu go to Manage Bookmarks. Then click on File, then Export. You then have the opportunity to select where you want your backup file saved to.

Click "Bookmarks" then "Manage Bookmarks"

In the Bookmarks Manager, click "File" then "Export"

This will export them as an html file which you can then import to restore your bookmarks

As for your earlier problem I've had that when FireFox hasn't shutdown properly and the firefox.exe process is still running. Manually ending the process through Task Manager solved the problem
 
Thanks guys, i'll have a go of that when i get home.

I nearly had a heart attack, when i saw all my bookmarks gone :eek:

If it does it again, check in task manager, sometimes after closing firefox it is still running in task manager, shut it down in TM and you won't get that profile prompt.
