I read on here the other week that the ' and / bug have been cured in Firefox.

How come sometimes these keys will still bring up the text search banner in my browser?

Is there some setting I can alter to cure it?

It's a feature not a bug. You can type ' or / and then start to search for stuff. Why do you want to disable it? Is it appearing when typing in textboxes because it shouldn't. Only when no text input field is selected.

I haven't seen it happening while I've got a text box selected for ages (but I'm running the Bon Echo nightlies, so I'm not the best one to ask).

Before someone asks:

' is for "Fnd as you Type Link" - which searches link text (i.e. <a>this text</a>)
/ is for "Find as you Type Text" - which searches all text.

You can disable Find as you Type though. Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> General -> Search for text when I start typing.
