Firefox cool tips and recommended add-ons

I've never seen that happen  I use it on Firefox on Mac and Vista, and I haven't seen anything go wrong because it. No-script, yes, I have seen kill websites, even when allowing scripts.

For starters, it doesn't delete or revert all the settings it adds/changes, and the pipelining settings it alters are the cause of all sorts of bugs.
Its memory "optimizations" can make things worse too.

I'm using FF3 beta 5 on Vista 64-bit and I don't have a back and forward button. If I right click on the FF taskbar and go to customise the back/forward icon is greyed out.
Any help appreciated.
Edit-- Fixed Just restored the default set of icons:o

Both debateable tbh. ;)

Ahem! Ardent Opera user here.

Opera > FF > IE. FACT! :p

I new it would sparka reaction :)

Why do you say opera is better than ff? What does it have extra or do different? are there the same addons for opera?

I did use it once, but it didnt like some sites so went back to ff.

Hmm I would say its more stable, faster, more standards supportive, more secure. More customisable. A lot of what Firefox can be made to do with extensions Opera does out da box.

Opera has widgets to Firefox's extensions. Some might say that the widgets aren't as featured as Firefox's extensions but I get by using Opera fine. I do get some sites that just don't work in Opera so I keep Firefox for them but its a handful of sites. :)

I like Stumble Upon for when i'm bored.

New tabs homepage. When I Alt T I get Google up.

Piclens is good.

My favourite has to be download statusbar.

I love my PicLens extension, it's so shiny :D

Anyone know that extension that allows me to change the favicons of the Bookmarks toolbar?

have they actually fixed the memory leaks with firefox yet... if u leave firefox open for hours and check, sometimes its using like 200mb of ram.

That a leak or is it just pre-empting your browsing? I know there used to be an option to speed things up by allowing it to read-ahead and cache sites ahead of you?

Like cavemanoc suggested (though it isn't pre-emptive), a lot of that is the browser keeping images cached in case you want them again.
Most tests show Fx 3 uses less memory than Fx2, and both use much less than IE. There have been a bunch of leaks fixed between Fx2 and Fx3 but most of what happens isn't actually leaking but memory fragmentation and intended behaviour.
