firefox copy & paste bug

i never thought i would say this but i'm actually considering going back to IE :eek:

Running version 1.5.0.8 of firefox - when you copy and paste it just either doesn't copy, or doesn't paste. In addition, the / and ' characters bring up the search box at the bottom instead of typing the characters literally.

Anyone know a fix for this? Otherwise... RIP firefox

They're both fixed in 2.0 as far as I know - 1.5's old now (but the update was needed to offer the upgrade to 2.0).

The copy and paste thing sounds like some sort of error, try reinstalling. There is an extention called Auto Copy which will put anything you highlight into the clipboard.

As for the / and ' characters, that is a feature of FF. It is only meant to do it when you have nothign selected, ie when you are typing in say a text field it should print the characters, otherwise open up the search bar. Couldnt find anything to disable this, ill keep looking tho.

Waste of time, it won't touch your profile.

Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Search for text when I start typing.

hmmm strange i'm sure the version i downloaded about 3 weeks ago was the latest version.

Anywho... installed V2 and all seems fine :cool:

Firefox 2.0 was released on the 24th October, so 1.5.0.7 probably was the latest version...just. You can expect a few more updates to the 1.5.0.x line, but it's old now.
