firefox downloads

personally I have never managed to successfully resume a download in firefox, even if it has only been paused for a few seconds.

just another quickie... if i pause a download can i reset my machine without having to start the download from scratch?
Don't think so. I think FF holds the download in a temporary folder on your PC. Once the PC is turned off/reset or the file is fully downloaded the temporary file is deleted.

To be able to download a file and reset the PC and still be able to resume would be to use a download client such as Free Download Manager and integrate it into FF using Flashgot.

When you start a download in FF with Flashgot installed, a window will pop up offering you three chances. Open the file with its registered application, Flashgot it with Free Download Manager (or whatever other download manager Flashgot supports) or simply download it in FF's native download window.

If you choose the Flashgot with FDM option, FDM will load. FDM supports resumable downloads so you should be able to pause/stop/reset the PC etc and still resume. However the site you are downloading from MUST support resumes. Sometimes I start a download in FDM and the info panel at the bottom tells me not to pause/stop the download because the site doesn't support resumes.
