Firefox Freeze/Crash Issue On OSX

Become a pizzatarian?

I already am, in that respect!

@ Sic: I blame my submission on the fact that a pipe burst in the spare room this morning, and I've spent all day moping up water and getting rid of carpet and wrecked furniture... no less than 24hrs after I finished redecorating! :(

At least that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.. (I know I am weak!) ;)

EDIT: Why isn't it rendering properly (Firefox)? I've cleared my caches, deleted my private data and run the system cleanup commands.

Have you uninstalled Firefox and tried the latest RC3 beta?

Hi,

I have not tried that recently though I did uninstall and go for the latest version about a month ago which didn't sort the problem. I will try this new version.

After I uninstall the application, should I remove the user profile data as well? I don't particularly want to lose my bookmarks but I will if need be.

Cheers guys!

Go to Bookmarks -> Organize bookmarks
Then File -> Export , and you can export all your bookmarks.

After reinstalling, Go to Bookmarks -> Organize bookmarks
Then File -> Import , and you can import all your bookmarks again.

Make a note of all your extensions so you can reinstall those separately (I think its always better to clean install extensions for stability rather than back those up)

If you use extensions Safari isn't best, if you want rendering speed, Safari isn't best, if you want your browser to not consume all of your RAM, Safari isn't best, if you want to use some websites (Hotmail, as an example), Safari isn't best. Hell, even if you want to view the source of an RSS feed, Safari isn't best. Why exactly do you think Safari is best, all of the above considered?

and, the latest Firefox is Version 3 RC1, it's no longer in beta

1. Extentions fair enough
2. Speed, Firefox is slugglish on my 2.4 MBP
3. Why does it matter? Its never bothered me with 2Gb and unless your being a silly ram peeper it really doesn't matter! Hell its might be DESIGN it does that? Should someone care? Not unless it is *actually* causing issues, and when i've had it running for a week straight with no issues I doubt it somehow...
4. Hotmail works fine here
5. RSS works here too

Weird eh?

Thanks. I'm on Version 3 now. Nice!

Cheers everyone. Hopefully no more freezing up. :)

I've been testing FF3 RC1, you don't need to uninstall/delete your current FF2, I just made a new folder under /Applications/ (I called mine 'FFX beta') and I can happily run either without playing around with profiles. ;) :)

I have been having the freeze issue with FF2, it does seem to happen when moving between FF and other applications or even between tabs, it has only started occurring with the last few versions. It's not a RAM issue as I have 4GB available and there's always an amount free.
