Hi Folks,
Ye olde version of firefox has the ability to allow you to change
how it deals with a particular file type eg save to disk , send it to an app etc

Does anyone know how to do this with latest version 3.6 ?

Is there an addon to help with this ?

Iam have a webpage with links to .vnc files that I want to execute
all that happens at the moment is that it displays the contents of teh
file in the browser window as text

The first time you attempt to download a new file type (i.e. no plugin or association is set), Firefox should ask you what to do with the file, allow you to choose a default, and make the file type available for future editing in the Applications window. Does .vnc not appear at all? There's more info on this here.

If it's not listed in Applications, and you've never been prompted, and the browser simply displays it as text there may be an issue with the MIME type sent by the server in the http header. See more info here. :)

Nope sadly this wont do it , it does not ask about .vnc types at all it just displays it

First link: no use , the options it asks for are not in the about:config list :(
so i cannot create a new file type

Second link: no use, it is not being served by a HTTP server .html file is on a network drive
eg file://///blah/ blah/blah.html

God i wish I could find an addon to help with this :(

Thanks for trying tho
