Hey all, sorry for the small post about this, had a look and couldn't find anything, but after coming back to Firefox again (Seems about 10x quicker than IE on my Virgin Media connection for some reason!) not having a "new tab" button is slowly driving me insane along with all new tabs opening blank :(

Am i missing something? If so, could anyone give me a couple pointers?

Cheers :D

I think vanilla firefox does not have a new tab button by default. However there is a plugin called tab mix plugin that allows this feature along with some other very useful features, imo. About new tabs opening blank, again tab mix plus has options for you to set for whatever you want to open in a new tab.

You don't really need a new tab button to get a new tab. If you set the Tab bar to be always there, right click on it to start a new tab. If you are using your Bookmarks, then click right and choose new tab or new window or click middle and that will open the bokmakr in a new tab.

Correct but you can put a "new tab" button just above the navigation bar, and clicking "customise" then drag the "new tab" icon onto the browser screen.

But as you have said it still opens up blank, which is a pain, which is also why i dont use the new tab feature.

There is a new tab button

tabbrowser preferences puts one in for you (similar to tabmix, but the menu's are simplified in this)

Tabbrowser Preferences 1.3.1.1 - Enhances control over some aspects of tabbed browsing.

i usually use ctrl + t mind

Just middle mouse click on the link to open in new tab, then middle click on the tab again to close it

I didnt think people used tabs, i just couldn't get used to them, as soon as i install firefox i tell it to open pages in a new window, and i have firefox on my quick launch so if i want a new window i just click there

What's not to like about tabs?! I've got 71 of the little fellas open!! ;)

there is no need for an extension to do this!! You can just right click on the toolbar, click customize then drag a new tab button onto the bar wherever you want,

I just middle click on links to open in a new tab.

If I just need a new tab, I just hold the right mouse button down and move the cursor up ('mouse gestures' plugin). So convenient.
